MELBOURNE SPRING FASHION WEEK LAUNCH, CITY

It is a festival of fashion at your fingertips; a car, a tram, a train away. At the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week launch on Tuesday the Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle , described Melbourne fashions first week in September best - You can see it, you can try it, you can buy it, and you can wear it because all ready-to-wear featured during the week, will be ready to buy. MSFW ambassador Ashley Hart is ready to buy ... and getting ready to wed, becoming engaged to her longtime beau Buck Palmer last week.

What spring fashion will you be looking for?

Im coming with an open mind, Hart said. Spring, that happy kind of feeling, that rebirth, its almost romantic, everyone is so happy, its breaking through from winter, its my favourite thing, and spring fashion is a reflection of that.

What about your wedding look, have you started; do you have a wedding folder?

Can I just say I just got on that Pinterest, which Ive never tried before, because its a great way to start doing folders. I was never one of those young girls who dreamt about weddings so my ideas have just started bubbling. Ill definitely be looking and being inspired for dresses even this spring fashion week. There is a folder under way but there are so many different ways I could go with it!

TARGET TOY EVENT, 1000 £ BEND

Perhaps it was a wish upon a star or, more likely, a wish, a whinge and an ongoing whine to your Mum and Dad for that one toy you longed for. At the Target toy event on Tuesday night at 1000 £ Bend we wanted to know, what was the special toy you really, really wanted when you were growing up.

For Dan Anstey it was all about Jurassic Park: There was a Velociraptor I wanted that made a noise. I had the one that didnt, and Ive never forgiven my parents for that. Thats part of the reason Im such a messed-up individual today, I think.

I was obsessed with all things Strawberry Shortcake, Pia Miller said. I remember I used to collect the stickers and they would just make my world.

The Barbie car, Rachel Holland said. I never got it, and Ive never recovered. Hollands mum, Jane Swann , confessed that she just didnt like Barbie: I thought they were stupid.  But a lucky dip upon leaving changed everything, gifting Holland with a Barbie car, a Pepto-pink Volkswagen.

See, some wishes do come true; not immediately, but definitely.

THE EMINENCE PRE-RELEASE EVENING, CARLTON

Not now, but soon, The Eminence will arrive. The Eminence will not be cloaked in robes, will not move among us, instead it will be an ever fixed mark; 14 levels of elite apartment living in Carlton with a $1 million communal rooftop, the work of two prominent developers, Lechte Corporation and Crema Constructions.

At the pre-release evening at the Queensberry Street display suite we wondered, if you were creating an apartment would you insist on anything ... unusual? A slide, Melissa Juratowitch said. If it was double-storied it would be cool to have a slide inside. Ive tried to convince my mum but she doesnt really go for it.

An anti-gravity chamber right in the middle, Georgie Holliday said. Everything else has been done; a hammock, a firemans pole, you go to a loft in New York and theres the firemans pole. And you need a nail salon inside your house, a special room, and youve got someone in there so you can get your nails done whenever you need.

A poor person in there the whole time? Maybe. We could push food under the door.
