Jacob Anderson, who plays Grey Worm, thinks it's great the series has moved beyond the books "because even people who read the books now have this mystery to watch in the show. Nobody can be smug anymore."

Jacob Anderson, who plays eunich soldier Grey Worm on “Game of Thrones,” says that even though writer George R.R. Martin has yet to finish the series of fantasy books the hit HBO show is based upon, he has no worries about the new season — which begins April 24 — being the first that's not based on the novels.

"It's not weird for me, because I never read the books. But I think it's cool, I think it's good because even people who read the books now have this mystery to watch in the show. Nobody can be smug anymore," he told the Daily News.

"I know stuff about the whole series, but I try not to spoil it for myself. It's really hard. In previous years I just read the whole season ahead of time because I was excited. But now I like not knowing. I haven't read this whole season. I know some things, because people have talked, but I didn't read it," he said.

"This is, from what I understand, the best one. Everyone is saying that," he said, referring to Season 6.

Asked about his character's near death last season, he said it was a nail-biter — and wasn’t sure if he’d have a job this year.

"It was a bit hairy for a moment. When I read the scripts last year, I didn't know what was going to happen after that fight, so I didn't know if I was going to make it."

"In Season 6, Grey Worm is finally learning a new type of leadership. Obviously he was picked to be a leader kind of randomly, and this season he gets to learn how to lead without fighting. It's not just bossing people around — Grey Worm is learning politics this year."

He added, "I never actually read the books, but people would kind of tell you stuff, or spoil stuff based on the books," he said. "But this year nobody had any idea. It was like little gossip sessions."
