You hear that?

Everything’s better with bacon, Jack of Jack in the Box says. So much so he decided to marry America’s favorite crispy, meaty snackwith milk shakes.

You hear that? That’s the sound of your arteries clogging up. A regular 16-ounce shake contains 773 calories (358 from fat), 28 grams of saturated fat, 2 grams of trans fat, 127 milligrams of cholesterol and 319 milligrams of sodium. You don’t even want to know what the numbers are for the 24-ounce version. (And if you do, here’s Jack in the Box’s nutrition factson the drink meal).

We haven’t tried this for ourselves, but lucky for you, the reviews are already coming in.

SFist: “While there were no visible chunks or bits of bacon floating in our shake, the sweet treat comes in a solid hue, almost a darker vanilla color. And the taste? A heavy, lingering bland with a touch of smoke that doesn’t go away. Instead of offering a variation on salt-sweet, which could have been impressive, Jack in the Box’s Bacon Shake hits the senses like smokey maple syrup. And not the good kind that, say, one might have found on their Sunday morning breakfast plate as mom’s crunchy bacon mixed with Mrs. Butterworth’s viscosity. The cold mound we tried to swallow was too sweet and too lifeless to be considered reasonably tasty in a pinch, or even decent hangover food.”

The Impulsive Buy: “Many of you might be expecting me to say the Jack in the Box Bacon Shake is repulsive, but, surprisingly, it’s not. Although I have to admit it was slightly off-putting at first. But the more I ate, the more I enjoyed the bacon flavor of the shake, which wasn’t anything close to being overpowering. Instead it had a very mild smokiness, albeit an artificial smokiness. The weirdest thing about this shake (yes, weirder than the fact it’s bacon flavored) is the way it ends up tasting like coffee at the back end.”

Weird indeed. If you give it a go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on the shake.
