2016 NX 200t Highlights

Based on the same platform as the Toyota RAV4, the Lexus NX is available in NX 200t and NX 300h model series. We cover the NX 300h, the gas-electric hybrid model, in a separate report.

A turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard in the NX 200t, making 235 horsepower between 4,800 rpm and 5,600 rpm, and 258 lb.-ft. of torque between 1,650 rpm and 4,000 rpm. This tuning distributes response across the majority of the engine’s rev range, making the NX 200t feel lively while accelerating.

A 6-speed automatic transmission with G-force Artificial Intelligence technology powers the front wheels, and using the Drive Mode Select system the NX 200t’s driver can choose Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes. This model, according to Lexus, can accelerate to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds and gets 25 mpg in combined driving (24 mpg with F Sport trim).

As an option, a Dynamic Torque Control all-wheel-drive system can send up to 50 percent of the engine’s output to the rear wheels. The NX 200t AWD supplies 6.9 inches of ground clearance, accelerates to 60 mph in seven seconds, and gets 24 mpg in combined driving.

Upgrade to the F Sport package for a more dynamic look and feel. This option installs a more aggressive exterior appearance, including unique 18-inch aluminum wheels with available summer performance tires. Inside, sport-bolstered front seats wrapped in quilted NuLuxe leatherette await the driver and front passenger. A sport steering wheel with perforated leather, revised interior trim, aluminum pedals with rubber studs for a drilled appearance, and revised instrumentation including “G-ball” G-force metering are included in the F Sport model, too. Active Sound Control technology is designed to make the powertrain sound sportier.

Technology highlights include an available S-Flow mode for the climate system, which heats or cools only those seating areas where a person is sitting, helping to conserve gas. The standard infotainment system includes Remote Touch Interface controls, Bluetooth, HD Radio, HD traffic and weather, a USB port, and Siri Eyes Free compatibility.
