Have yourself a British little Christmas with Downton Abbey and Doctor Who

Downton Abbey and Doctor Who are bringing you Christmas Specials!

It doesn't get more Brit than that!

Christmas is the time to be jolly. Doesn't matter if you are celebrating with your family and loved ones or have not got a chance to be with them. There is a term called 'Christmas cheer' and you do want to get into that spirit. The year is coming to end and there can be nothing more exciting than the promise of new beginning and prospects. This is also the time to reminisce about what all you did through the year. And if you are not liking what I just suggested, well, there is always television and return of two amazing shows just for Christmas Day.

Admit it, we all have devoured episodes of Downton Abbey like Olivia Pope devours her wine. We had glasses of pinot noir, cuddled up on the sofa and looking at the hardships of Lord Grantham and family. Quite a time Guvnor! The series has come to visit you one last time with a Christmas bonanza on Star World Premiere HD.

While Mary endeavours to build bridges with Edith, Edith's secret continues to pose a threat. Will she get married to Bertie after Mary exposes her secret? Anna is pregnant, which could lead to all sorts of trauma. And so far, Mr Carson has been more concerned about the pace of change in the Downton Abbey household than he has about his new wife Mrs. Hughes. Isobel receives devastating news and when the Greys' scheming takes a sinister turn, she and Violet join forces. Robert learns the value of independence while the day that Anna and Bates have been waiting for arrives.

Above stairs, the big question is whether anybody dies – not least Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville), whose death would well and truly hand the Downton Abbey estate on to a new generation. How much does the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) know, when she says “Every year, we drink to the future, whatever it may bring”? The Christmas Special will, most definitely, be a tear-jerker. Whichever way our favourite characters end their lives on the small screen, it will not fail to stir strong emotions in its millions of fans.

The Christmas Special will air on December 25th at 8 PM on Star World Premiere HD

The other timeless story you can catch up on is the tale of the Time Lord. Doctor Who Christmas Special 'The Husband of River Song' will see the return of Alex Kingston to the franchise as River Song. Last we saw her with Matt Smith's Doctor in 'The Name of the Doctor.'

In The Husband of River Song, it’s Christmas Day in the future and the TARDIS is parked on a snowy village street, covered in icicles, awaiting its next adventure. River Song (Alex Kingston) meets her husband’s new incarnation, in the form of Peter Capaldi, for the first time this Christmas. But wait, will she even know that the Doctor is the Doctor? And is she married to someone else too?

The episode follows the Doctor’s latest adventure when on Christmas Day 5343, in the remote human colony of Mendorax Dellora, the Doctor is hiding from Christmas carolers and comedy reindeer antlers.

But when a crashed spaceship calls upon him for help, the doctor quickly finds himself recruited into River Song’s squad, and hurled into a fast, frantic chase across the galaxy pursued by River’s new husband, his Infinite Majesty King Hydroflax of the Final Cluster. Will any of them make it out alive? And when will River Song work out who the Doctor is? All will be revealed on a star-liner full of galactic super-villains, and a destination the Doctor has been avoiding for a very long time.

The Christmas Special will air on Sunday, December 27 at 11 pm on FX.
