The UK’s National Pig Association just released a statement, “ Europe’s pork and bacon supply is contracting fast“, in which this bombshell was found:
“A world shortage of pork and bacon next year is now unavoidable”
Back on September 7th, the Association initially predicted the shortage, saying “The world’s pig farmers are warning of a shortage of bacon and pork next year because pig-feed has become unaffordable following disastrous growing and harvesting weather.” Because of the price of feed, they say that pig farmers around the world are selling their herds, and need a higher price from the supermarkets to continue.
Both statements urged British shoppers to choose pork and bacon with the British independent Red Tractor logo, in order to show stores an increase in demand for those products.
