ALBANY — With a week to go before the New York presidential primaries, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have maintained their double-digit leads, a new poll released Tuesday shows.

Trump is supported by 55% of likely Republican primary voters, far ahead of the 20% backing Ohio Gov. John Kasich and the 19% who say they will vote for Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

With 95 delegates at stake, Trump holds large leads among every Republican demographic.

“Donald Trump is big in his home state,” said Quinnipiac University Poll Assistant Director Maurice Carroll.

On the Democratic side, where there are 247 delegates up for grabs, Clinton leads Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont by a 53% to 40% margin, the poll found.

Sanders leads big among young people and liberals, according to the poll.

Clinton has the edge among New Yorkers over 45 years old. She also leads in every region of the state, though it’s closest upstate where she is up by a 50% to 46% margin.

Clinton is buoyed by her support among black voters, with whom she holds a commanding 65% to 28% lead over Sanders.

“Black voters matter for Secretary Hillary Clinton in the New York Democratic primary,” Carroll said.

Clinton also leads comfortably among women.

The Quinnipiac poll basically tracks a Wall Street Journal/NBC News/Marist survey released Monday.
